Atalaya Intercultural (Burgos)

La Asociación Atalaya Intercultural, ONG dedicada a la acogida de personas inmigrantes está formada por cuatro congregaciones religiosas: María Inmaculada, Esclavas del Sagrado Corazón, Hijas de la Caridad y Jesuitas. El trabajo que ésta organización realiza durante el año se dirige a la integración de estas personas en situación desfavorecida.

Los voluntarios organizan campamentos de verano de 15 días con niños inmigrantes y se realizan varias actividades: clases de refuerzo escolar, talleres y deportes.

BreakOut Mission trip to Punta Gorda, Belize
Campus Ministry, in collaboration with the Center for Service and Community Engagement (SLU), is hosting a BreakOut Mission Trip this May 21-June 2 to Punta Gorda, Belize. The trip will involve working through Jesuit-run St. Peter Claver Parish in Punta Gorda to do various projects in the surrounding Mayan towns. PROYECTO INDIA
This Project coordinated by the Campus Ministry of the University of Comillas is now in its fourth edition. It consists of a month´s work with the Dalit population (“the untouchables”). Spend the month of August helping to build health centers, taking part in activities with children and assisting in liturgy preparation.

The project includes a previous training starting in March of each year. Dominance of English Language is required and a middle level of Spanish will also be taken into consideration when applying. Pueblos Unidos
Pueblos Unidos is an Association that Works in the “Barrio de la Ventilla” in Madrid. Although during the Academic Year they provide different services for the community, during the month of July they need extra help from volunteers for their Summer Urban Camps.

Monuments and cities in Israel
Faculty:  Carolina Aznar, PhD
SOC- Archaeological Excavation in Israel.
Participate in an archaeological research project in Israel and learn about the cultural context of Bible as well as about the Jewish, Christian and Muslim holy places in the region.During the month of July Prof. Carolina Aznar will direct an archaeological field school in Israel. Participants will excavate at the site of Tel Me’amer/Tel Regev (near Haifa, Israel), learn about the history and archaeology of the region and the formation of the biblical texts, and travel during the weekends to many of the sites in the region (including Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Dead Sea, Qumran, Masada, Sea of Galilee, Capharnaum, Nazareth, Megiddo, and St. John of Acre). Deadline to apply to join the project: March 1, 2011.
