Semester Retreat
Ignatian Pilgrimage Retreat to Loyola: An opportunity to deepen one’s understanding of St. Ignatius of Loyola and the Spiritual Exercises in the place where Saint Ignatius was born and lived. We will visit and explore, as well, the castle where St. Francis Xavier grew up.
Journey Retreats: A day trip away from Madrid to explore different forms of prayer and discuss themes of interest to the students.
Faith- Life - Community: Small groups that gather to talk about being a person of faith in today’s world.
Bible Study Group: Small groups that gather to study Scripture and so as to better appreciate its relevance to our lives.

Central to the life of Christian discipleship is love of neighbor and the pursuit of justice, including a special care for and solidarity with, the poor and needy. That solidarity challenges people of faith to make the world more loving, more just, more peaceful and more committed to life. SLU Madrid offer its students, faculty and staff opportunities for living out their identity as “men and women for others.” Offerings coordinated through Campus Ministry include:
Community ESL
This SLU Madrid program offers free English as a Second Language classes for those in the Madrid community. Classes are given once or twice a week in the evenings. Classes form at the beginning of each semester and run through the end of the term. Basic class preparation is given prior to starting with assistance provided as needed. English fluency required. Misioneras de la Caridad Soup Kitchen
Volunteers help set up, serve and clean up at the Missionaries of Charity Soup Kitchen. Two hour commitment required. Very little Spanish is required.
Visit Elderly People
Volunteers needed to visit elderly people and offer conversation and support to mostly English-speakers. Contact Nancy Shea of the American Women’s Club at 91 457 1108.
Asociación Nacional Amigos de los Animales
The National Association of Friends of the Animals seeks volunteers to play with and help socialize the animals at the shelter. Little Spanish is required to talk to a dog! Contact: www.anaaweb.org see “voluntariado.”
