… uno de los campamentos que más éxito ha tenido es el que organiza la Saint Louis University en el colegio San José, en Villafranca de los Barros (Badajoz). ‘Operación Inglés’, este campamento de verano para aprender inglés que tiene lugar en plena Extremadura, lleva funcionando 10 años y muchos cambios han operado desde su comienzo. Se pretende una inmersión total en inglés para chavales de entre 12 y 17 años.

He learned and experienced so much.  The Justin that returned from Spain is a much more confident, balanced, happier Justin!

After my return, I just slept in for a week. It was a truly tiring experience. However, I cannot explain in words, how rewarding this experience has been for me. I was able to get a closer experience of the Spanish culture and language and enhance my teaching skills. And this is an experience that I would love to repeat again next year!

Tras cuatro años encomendados a mis hijas, confirmaros que la sensación de tranquilidad como padres en estos días se debe exclusivamente a la labor que como profesores y monitores desarrolláis. Gracias por todo; mi hija  (otro año más) viene encantada.

PRESENTATION

Un campamento with a difference...

Dates: July 5 - July 24, 2015
Location: Colegio San José in Villafranca de los Barros, Badajoz (Southwest Spain)
Ages: 12 – 17 years
Places: 20 for non-Spaniards who want to learn Spanish, and 100 places for Spanish-speakers who want to learn English

We offer…

A summer camp, founded in 2003, based on the exchange of language and culture for both students of Spanish and students of English aged between 12 and 17. Due to the ratio of at least 1:5, and usually more than 1:10, English speakers to Spanish speakers, those who come to learn Spanish find themselves in a privileged language immersion situation.

Why OPI?
Students who go to Spanish language programs often find that their peers in the course are also foreigners there to learn Spanish, and so they rarely come into contact with Spaniards of their same age. In OPI, due to the ratio of 1 English speaker to every 5 to 20 Spanish speakers (depending on the numbers that year), we can guarantee that they will be totally immersed in Spanish culture, will get to know a lot of Spaniards, and will speak a lot of Spanish! However, being immersed in the Spanish culture not only refers to the language, but also to the different (later) meal times, late bedtimes and - of course - siestas!
