Although the main focus of the course for singers is on art song, students are welcome to work on zarzuela arias with our faculty.


General Comments on Repertoire

The more repertoire one brings to the course ready for performance, the greater the opportunity to work on different music with different teachers. We encourage all students to prepare as much music as possible and to be creative and original in their choice of repertoire. There is a lot of music available and very little of it ever gets performed. Our list of recommended repertoire should in no way be considered as a complete list of what can be studied during the course.

Note about Spanish and Latin American Repertoire: We have decided to limit the repertoire to songs in the Spanish Language. We have considered this repertoire to be vast enough and find it would be difficult to assist the needs of those students who would want to work on songs in Portuguese, Basque, Catalan, etc... However, we encourage you to consult with us about bringing specific songs which you might want to sing in other languages. In fact, on our recommended repertoire list, you will find a number of works in other languages. This may be acceptable as long as you do not expect to necessarily receive expert language and diction coaching in these areas.

Solo Guitar

Guitarists can work with Mr. Bitetti on any solo guitar repertoire of their choice. The main focus of the course is on Spanish and Latin American music but students are welcome to perform other repertoire they have prepared beforehand.
