Classical Guitar: Solo, Vocal Accompaniment, Chamber Duos (guitar ensembles, flute/violin and guitar)

Guitarists work on solo repertoire, as well as perform with singers, flautists, violinists or other guitarists under the direction of Ernesto Bitetti, whose fame as a recitalist and numerous recordings of classical guitar are known around the world. Those who attend the course without a vocal duo partner may opt to have a partner assigned. All classical guitarists will also have the opportunity to study flamenco technique with Óscar Herrero.

Flamenco Guitar
Guitarists who wish to concentrate on flamenco will take daily lessons with our acclaimed flamenco guitar specialist, Óscar Herrero, one of Spain's leading experts in flamenco guitar. The course will cover flamenco guitar technique, rhythm, harmony and the distinctive characteristics of flamenco music.

This year's program is being offered in Madrid, Spain's vibrant capital, in collaboration with Spain's oldest music conservatory, the Real Conservatorio Superior de Música de Madrid. The Conservatory's historic eighteenth-century building, located in the heart of Madrid, ensures that students from all disciplines will have complete and easy access to the region's best practice and performance facilities, as well as to Madrid's cultural and artistic treasures. Situated in the museum district of old Madrid, the Reina Sofía Museum (home to Picasso's renowned Guernica) is just next door while the Prado and Thyssen-Bornemisza museums are only a short walk away.

The wide range of course offerings will enrich the artistic environment of this summer's program, as aspiring guitarists join singers and pianists from around the world to hone performance skills in their chosen disciplines while working on this unique repertoire with our world-renowned faculty members.
