The community ESL program started in 2002 both to fulfill the Jesuit commitment of providing free services for the local community and to fulfill the students’ increasing demand for volunteer opportunities.
More than a few volunteer teachers on this program have since become professional educators, and many students who have attended the classes have managed to significantly improve their level of English.
At present, we regularly have between 200 and 400 students attending, and 25 to 40 students teaching the Community ESL classes every semester.
