Celebrating Holy Week in Madrid
Among Madrid’s Holy Week processions are three which take place amidst some of Madrid’s major landmarks (such as the Calle de Alcalá, Gran Vía and Plaza Mayor):
Cristo de la Fe y el Perdón (April 17 – Palm Sunday)
… with elaborate figures carried through the center of the city…
Nuestro Padre Jesús de la Salud (April 20 – Holy Wednesday)
… organized by a gypsie brotherhood…
Procesión del Silencio (April 22 – Good Friday)
… worshippers dressed in pointed hoods walk in silence, with the only sound resonating from their footsteps…
