Celebrating the Season of Lent

For Christians, the forty days of Lent, leading to the celebration of Easter, are a time of renewal during which we are invited to deepen and strengthen our relationship with God in an intentional way, in communion with the whole Church.

 

 

Looking for something to help you spiritually through Lent this year?  Check out:

• 40 Acts of Prayer, Almsgiving and Fasting , an excellent site maintained by the Campus Ministry program on SLU’s St. Louis Campus.  It includes brief daily written reflections by members of the SLU Community.
• www.pray-as-you-go.org / These10-minute downloadable podcasts are a great way to start your day (or end it!).
• www.rezandovoy.org / in Spanish / An initiative of the Spanish Jesuits, the site offers daily prayer from Monday to Friday in audio, to download and listen to on your mp3 player
• http://sacredspace.ie/ daily Lenten prayers and reflections offered in a variety of languages

 

Lent is also a good time to celebrate the Sacraments.  On the Madrid Campus, Mass is offered three times a week in the campus chapel on the 1st floor of Padre Rubio Hall:

Wednesdays * 1:50 pm (in English)
Thursdays * 1:50 pm (in Spanish)
Sundays * 6:00 pm (in English)

And, the Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession) is available each weekday at 5.30 pm in the Chaplain’s Office (PRH ground floor) or by appointment with Fr. James O´Leary at joleary6@slu.edu.
