COMPANY MAGAZINE PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST

Like to take photos?  Like to see them “published”?  Here are two great opportunities:  (1) Our Marketing and Communications team responsible for the Madrid Campus website and the Billiken News,  as well as for SLU-Madrid printed publications, is always looking for more photos of student life, e.g. school trips, Student Life activities, daily campus life.  (Short videos are also needed.) 

 

To learn more about volunteering your photographic talents, speak with Ángel and Fernando in the Publications Office, or drop an email to María-José Morell, Director of Enrollment Management.  (2) Each year the quarterly U.S. Jesuit magazine called Company sponsors a photography contest, inviting both amateurs and professionals to submit shots which “offer a glimpse of the Jesuit world.”  (Very often these show some aspect of campus life on a Jesuit university.)  This year’s deadline for submissions is May 21, 2010.  Winners receive monetary prizes, and their photos are published in the summer issue of the magazine which has more than 120,000 readers.  Interested?

 

Company Magazine, published by the Jesuits in the United States, annually holds a photo contest, inviting student, amateur and professional photographers to submit “Jesuit-related shots.”  (That includes just about anything that is associated with a Jesuit university.) 

 

Here is how Company Magazine describes the contest:

• Send us your best (maximum 5) color or black-and-white prints or electronic images (300 ppi at 4” by 6” or larger).  If you are submitting large electronic images (4 mb or larger), you’ll need those on a CD in jped or tiff format.
• Tell us if you are entering as a student, an amateur, or a professional photographer (someone who has studied photography extensively and/or makes or made a living as a photographer).  Please include your mailing address, daytime phone, and e-mail address.
• Give us a description (25 words or so) of each submission and its connection to the Jesuit world.  Also, give us a sentence or two in which you state that your submissions are your work and that Company has your OK to use them in the magazine and on its web site.
• E-mail to editor@companymagazine.org or mail to Company magazine photo contest, PO Box 60790, Chicago IL  60660-0790 USA by May 21, 2010.
• Look for the results in our Summer 2010 issue.  First-place winners in all three categories will receive $200, second-place winners $100, third-place winners $50, and honorable mentions $25.
