We have received a request from Sergio Rodríguez Trejo, representing the Solar Decathlon Europe Competition, to be held in Madrid this coming June 14-27.
Maybe you’ve heard about this competition in which teams from 10 different countries will come to Madrid to display their “Sustainable Houses” to the public. The houses will be placed in the Villa Solar, next to the river Manzanares, in front of the Royal Palace. For more information about this Competition you can check www.sdeurope.org.
(This event continues the Solar Decathlon Competition organized by the Department of Energy in the United States from 2002 to 2009. With the support of the DOE, Spain is organizing the first competition to take place in Europe.)
The Competition organizers would like to have one or two persons volunteers per day at each of the 14 houses expected to be on display in order to give the teams support and attention as they show their sustainable houses to the public “in both Spanish and English,” communicating the goals and benefits of sustainable energy and construction.
To learn more about what would be involved in serving as a volunteer translator, you may contact, the Competition Strategies Manager, Sergio Rodríguez Trejo, at sergio.rodriguez@sdeurope.org.
