2012 Madrid CARNIVAL: Madrid’s carnival, since medieval times, includes a parade of fauns, centaurs, toads, butterflies, fantastic creatures and monsters. Opens on Friday, February 17 in Plaza de la Villa with its procession to Plaza Mayor. Events continue through February 22.

ARCO 2012: February 15-19, the 31st edition of Madrid’s International Contemporary Art Fair (160 galleries devoted to individual artists). Solo Projects: Focus Latin America; Opening: Young European Galleries; and Focus The Netherlands (guest country). Metro: Campo de las Naciones.
