OPPORTUNITIES & INVITATIONS

Christian Life Community and Reflection Groups are close-knit student groups which seek to  create close and supportive relationships between their members as they gather to discuss what it means to be a person of faith in today’s world.  Meetings are held once a week. Through prayer and faith-sharing, participants discern the desires of their hearts and develop a fitting response to God´s call.  Reflection groups meet for the first time this week (on Tuesday from 6:00-7:00 pm and on Friday from 2:00-3:00 pm) in PRH 10.  If you are interested in participating, feel free to drop in at either time.  For more information, contact student Eminio Sulaiman at esulaima@slu.edu or see Ana Aizpún in Student Life - Campus Ministry (aaizpun@slu.edu).

Would you like to see a town of hanging houses?  Join Campus Ambassadors for a day trip to Cuenca on Saturday, March 5.  The 20€ fee includes roundtrip transportation by private coach.  Minimum of 20 people required.  Sign up in the Finance Office.  (Please note: Refunds for day trips cannot be given if a student fails to attend for whatever reason, including failure to arrive by the scheduled departure time.)

Loyola Ignatian Pilgrimage Retreat (Friday morning, March 11 – Sunday evening, March 13)
/ open to students of all faiths.  Taking place in the beautiful Basque country of northern Spain at the birthplace of  Ignatius of Loyola , the founder of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits), the retreat provides a great opportunity to deepen one’s self-understanding  while also learning more about Ignatius’ life and how his values and way of understanding reality have shaped Jesuit activities, including education, ever since.  The return trip to Madrid on Sunday includes a visit to the castle where Francis Xavier (Ignatius´ university friend who became one of the original Jesuits) grew up.  Because of generous benefactors, the total retreat fee (including transportation, housing and great meals!) is only 90 €, half of the actual cost.  Sign-ups continue through the end of February in the Finance Office.

Each semester Student Life offers a rich variety of campus ministry activities & service opportunities.

Need some extra attention while preparing for February mid-term exams?  Stuck on your homework?  Need help with your English?  With your Spanish?  The English Writing Center and the Spanish Language Center are located in the entry area of Manresa Hall.   The schedule of the English Writing Center is: Mondays & Wednesdays, 11:00 am - 3:00 pm, and Tuesdays & Thursdays, 12:00 noon - 2:00 pm.  The Spanish Language Center is open Mondays and Wednesdays, 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm, and Tuesday & Thursdays, 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm.
