Five Additional Campus Ambassadors To Be Selected for the Spring 2011 Semester: Campus Ambassadors are selected student leaders who, upholding the University’s mission, commit themselves to representing the University at a variety of campus programs and events.  In turn, Ambassadors are given a number of special opportunities for personal and professional development.  If you are interested in learning more about what it means to be a Campus Ambassador, you are invited to contact Ariadne Ferro in Student Life.  PLEASE NOTE: Wednesday, November 17 is the deadline to apply to be a Campus Ambassador for the Spring 2011 semester. >>

Discover Saudi Arabia!  Come and discover the land of the Prophet Mohammed, try some typical Saudi food and coffee in a typical Saudi tent, take a photo dressed in typical Saudi clothes, have your name in Arabic tattooed in henna, dress in a thob, and learn to dance Al-Ardah.... Thursday, October 28, 12 - 3 pm in the Student Lounge of PRH.

The Registrar’s Office will be closed Friday, October 29.

Daylight Savings Time Ends in Spain this coming Sunday, October 31.   Time to move your clocks back one hour.  (Remember: “fall back, spring forward”).  For those in contact with the States, please note that the U.S. does not end DST until November 7.  Therefore, for one week, the U.S. will be one less hour “behind” Spain.  For example, St. Louis will be six, not seven, hours earlier than Madrid.

In the Catholic tradition, the month of November is a particular time to remember deceased loved ones.
On Tuesday, November 2 (the Feast of All Souls), Campus Ministry will sponsor a special Mass in PRH 16, beginning at 1:50 pm.  Also, as a symbol of our desire to keep the deceased before God, everyone is invited until the end of November to place the names of deceased loved ones in the box located in the chapel on the first floor of Padre Rubio Hall and/or to post photographs of deceased loved ones on the blue panel display in the chapel. >>

Special Announcement

If you are in the process of renewing your Tarjeta de Estudiante and will be leaving the Schengen area for the Christmas Break, carefully read the Residency Card section of our website for information on how to obtain an autorización de regreso.  For more information, contact Ariadne Ferro at aferro@slu.edu.

Discover a great volunteer opportunity with the Franciscan nuns (Hermanitas de Los Pobres de Maiquetia) Soup Kitchen – a 3-minute walk from Padre Rubio Hall! You may volunteer for 30 minutes, an hour, or longer anytime between 11am-2 pm, any weekday. >>
If you are interested in learning more, please e-mail campus minister Ana Aizpún (aaizpun@slu.edu) or student Francisco Hohn (fhohn@slu.edu).  Either would be happy to answer your questions and share experiences of volunteering at the soup kitchen.
