SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Discover a great volunteer opportunity with the Franciscan nuns (Hermanitas de Los Pobres de Maiquetia) Soup Kitchen – a 3-minute walk from Padre Rubio Hall! You may volunteer for 30 minutes, an hour, or longer anytime between 11am-2 pm, any weekday. >>
If you are interested in learning more, please e-mail campus minister Ana Aizpún (aaizpun@slu.edu) or student Francisco Hohn (fhohn@slu.edu).  Either would be happy to answer your questions and share experiences of volunteering at the soup kitchen.

And another great volunteer opportunity: the Helsinki España-Dimensión Humana Project. The US Embassy and European Parliament in Madrid are looking for volunteers – US and Spanish University students – who are willing to attend training sessions on Human Rights during the last two weekends in October and then do presentations in schools during March and April next year. >>
To find out more, please e-mail or otherwise contact Ana Aizpún (aaizpun@slu.edu) in Student Life, or Academic Dean Dr. Paul Vita (vitap@slu.edu), preferably no later than this Thursday, October 21.

Final Call: If you are in University housing and are planning to stay next term with the same Host Family (señora), you must e-mail Margarita Casado at housing-madrid@slu.edu before Wednesday, October 20.  After this date, your spot may be made available to a Spring 2011 student who is applying for housing.

Soccer Season Opening Match at Green Canal: This Tuesday at 9:00 pm (not 8 pm). The SLU-Madrid Billikens will be playing the Bank of America team. Special Announcement

In the Catholic tradition, the month of November is a particular time to remember deceased loved ones.  On Tuesday, November 2 (the Feast of All Souls), Campus Ministry will sponsor a special Mass beginning at 1:50 pm.  Also, Campus Ministry will be gathering names of deceased loved ones for the SLU-Madrid Campus to remember in prayer.  Check next week’s Billiken News for more details.

Check out the new SLU-Madrid Campus social media page!  You may access it by either going to http://spain.slu.edu/socialmedia, or by clicking on the social media icon at the bottom of the Madrid Campus website home page.

Students interested in getting a seasonal flu shot may make a free-of-charge appointment at Interclinic with Dr. Borrás (using your Sanitas card); however, you will need to pay for the vaccine at Interclinic.  For information on making an appointment – and for directions to Interclinic – please click here >>

Is your NIE tarjeta de estudiante (residency card) about to expire?  Do you need an appointment for an autorización de regreso?  Carefully read the Residency Card section of our website.  For more information, contact Ariadne Ferro at aferro@slu.edu.
