Tino Villanueva es profesor en Boston University y autor de numerosos libros (poesía y crítica literaria). Congratulations to the winners of this year’s Loyola Awards for Creative Writing! Taking first prize was Curry Buck for Six Poems; the runner-up was Stephen Crouch for his “Sea-Monkeys and My Life as a Scriptoneirologist”; and, honorable mention was received by Matthew Bass for his work, “Jorge’s Machete.”

The English Department's 8th annual International Graduate Student Colloquium, "Currency and Consumption: the Social Lives of Literary Texts," will take place on our campus on Friday, May 21 and Saturday, May 22. On Friday, May 21 at 1pm, Dr. James Buzard of MIT will give the conference keynote address in the main reading room of the library. Panel presentations will take place from 4:00-7:45 pm on Friday in the Library’s Rice Room and from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm and 3:30-6:30 pm on Saturday in Padre Rubio Hall 16. The English Writing Assistance Center, located on the ground floor of Manresa Hall, will re-open for Summer Session I on Tuesday, May 25. Summer Session I hours: 4:00-6:00 pm Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. The staff looks forward to working with students on various aspects of the writing process, including how to begin an essay, edit work for grammar or stylistic problems, improve overall structure, and strengthen claims and arguments.
