SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Administrative Support Scholarship Positions: Summer 2010 and Academic Year 2010-2011 / CURRENT students – whether or not they have a work-grant position this semester – who are interested in applying for a Administrative Support Scholarship position for this summer and/or for the fall 2010 and spring 2011 semesters, must submit a completed application to Liz McCreary in the Human Resources Office (ground floor, Padre Arrupe Hall) by Monday, March 22.  The application form – which includes a statement about eligibility requirements – is available here >>. Pancake Breakfast is Back!  On Wednesday, March 17, come enjoy Campus Ministry - and Saint Patrick - for some good old-fashioned pancakes (with maple syrup too) from 10am until 1pm in the Student Lounge. All proceeds will be directed through Cáritas toward the relief efforts on behalf of the earthquake victims in Chile.

Planning to stay in University Housing (either in a piso or with a señora) during Summer I and/or Summer II academic sessions?   Please inform housing-madrid@slu.edu no later than March 17.  (To confirm a summer housing reservation, a non-refundable 500€ payment to the Finance Office will be required by April 15).

Daylight Savings Time – with a Difference!  On March 14, the United States began Daylight Savings Time; however, Spain does not begin DST until March 28.  And so, for two weeks this month, there will be one less hour difference between Spain and the U.S.  For example, there will be only six hours difference between Madrid and St. Louis.

Volunteering – Soup Kitchen and Bokatas:  Students regularly have the opportunity to help to feed the hungry at a local Soup Kitchen.  Also, a group of students join students from the Universidad de Comillas every Tuesday night to make sandwiches and feed the homeless.  If you would like to join either, or both, of these volunteer programs, please contact Gina Gailis in the Student Life Office or by e-mail at ggailis@slu.edu.
