First SLU-Madrid Alumni Dinner 2009
On Friday May 8, 2009, SLU-Madrid Alumni celebrated the first SLU-Madrid Alumni dinner at the NH Eurobuilding in downtown Madrid. There were over 120 people at the event and everyone seemed to have a wonderful time. There were many smiles and a lot of laughter as people caught up with old friends and made new acquaintances.
After an initial cocktail and appetizer greeting, the group of alumni was welcomed by Fr. Frank Reale, Rector of SLU-Madrid, as well as Dr. Ángeles Encinar, head of the Alumni Committee. Later, after dinner, a brief presentation was made with photographs of the University and some alumni, who graciously responded to the call for photographs from their days at SLU. Father Reale then spoke about the campus and Dr. Encinar encouraged all alumni to participate in campus activities. Alumni were able to reminisce about their time at SLU-Madrid, as well as learn about what the University is doing now and the plans it has for the future.
The Alumni Committee wishes to thank all alumni who came to the dinner and everyone who helped organize the event. Thanks to everyone's participation, the evening was a success. The Committee’s intention is to turn this annual dinner into a tradition. In addition, organizing more events of this nature along with social gatherings throughout the year is on the agenda. Hopefully, even more alumni will both attend and participate in planning of these events. Alumni are asked to please make suggestions about possible social gatherings that could be planned in the future. It was great to see so many familiar faces, catch up and meet new people. Thanks again to everyone.
