Financial Aid

Saint Louis University, Madrid Campus, tuition fees are highly competitive – some 33 to 50 percent lower than you'll find at comparable universities in North America. For the 2008/2009 academic year, tuition for Madrid Campus students (first-year and continuing) will be €7,400/semester.

As we work to assure that the cost of obtaining a university education is affordable to students from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds, we offer a variety of financial aid opportunities to deserving students.   In fact, for the 2007/2008 academic year, approximately one-half of our first-year and continuing students received some sort of merit-based scholarship or need-based financial aid.

Merit-based scholarships
U.S. students who apply to the Madrid Campus of Saint Louis University are automatically considered for Madrid merit-based scholarships.   Which are awarded based on a student's academic credentials as demonstrated by university and high school transcripts, standardized test scores (SAT/ACT), and potential to enhance the academic and extracurricular environment of the University.  The awards range from a 10% to 50% annual tuition discount.

Need-based financial aid
Students are also eligible for Saint Louis University need-based financial aid (federal, state and private funded student aid programs) based on:

  • 2008-2008 Undergraduate Admission Application
  • 2008-2009 FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)
  • FAFSA financial need
  • Scholarship fund availability

The 2008-2009 electronic FAFSA is available at www.FAFSA.ed.govSaint Louis University´s school code is 002506.

Work-Study Campus Jobs
Each semester the University makes available a limited number of work study campus jobs.  Students work in departments throughout the University for up to ten hours/week in exchange for a reduction in their tuition fees.  No cash payments are made.  Instead, the amount is credited toward the amount due on the tuition fees for the semester.

University work-study opportunities include working as monitors in computer labs, assistants in the library, bookstore, finance department, admissions office, and student life.   Job placement priority is given to permanent or full-year visiting students.  For more information, please contact Marta Maruri at  bolsatrabajo@madrid.slu.edu.

Internships

The University, in cooperation with various multi-national companies located in the Madrid area, offers internships to qualified undergraduate students. It is important that the student understand that this is a serious work opportunity that is demanding in time, professionalism, and language skills. Therefore, we have set the following criteria for consideration of applicants:

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale).
  • Sophomore class standing (at least 45 credit hours).
  • Third year (300 level) Spanish required. Each applicant will need to undergo a personal or phone interview with a member of the Saint Louis University Madrid Campus Spanish Department.
  • Applicants need to be prepared to work a morning or afternoon schedule, 5 days/week for a 3-4 month period.

Qualified applicants will be interviewed by a member of the Business Faculty as a part of the application process.
