The Madrid campus of Saint Louis University offers international students a limited number of one-year, renewable, merit-based scholarships equal to 10 to 50 percent of tuition. We treat all admitted applicants as scholarship candidates as well. Therefore, in order to apply for a scholarship, all you must do is gain admission to the University. As we assign scholarships to worthy candidates in order of receipt of application, you will want to apply for admission as soon as possible.
The University grants scholarships to international students with outstanding academic records. While we consider each case separately, successful candidates normally rank in the top ten percent of their class and have a minimum composite SAT score of 1200 (verbal + math). Renewal of scholarships depends on academic performance.
Work-Study Campus Jobs
Each semester the University makes available a limited number of work study campus jobs. Students work in departments throughout the University for up to ten hours/week in exchange for a reduction in their tuition fees. No cash payments are made. Instead, the amount is credited toward the amount due on the tuition fees for the semester.
University work-study opportunities include working as monitors in computer labs, assistants in the library, bookstore, finance department, admissions office, and student life. Job placement priority is given to permanent or full-year visiting students. For more information, please contact Marta Maruri at bolsatrabajo@madrid.slu.edu.
Internships
The University, in cooperation with various multi-national companies located in the Madrid area, offers internships to qualified undergraduate students. It is important that the student understand that this is a serious work opportunity that is demanding in time, professionalism, and language skills. Therefore, we have set the following criteria for consideration of applicants:
- Minimum GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale).
- Sophomore class standing (at least 45 credit hours).
- Third year (300 level) Spanish required. Each applicant will need to undergo a personal or phone interview with a member of the Saint Louis University Madrid Campus Spanish Department.
- Applicants need to be prepared to work a morning or afternoon schedule, 5 days/week for a 3-4 month period.
Qualified applicants will be interviewed by a member of the Business Faculty as a part of the application process.
