Admissions Requirements

As we receive student applications from all over the world, our admission requirements are flexible enough to account for differences in secondary school educational systems. We ask that all students follow one of the following four admission options.

  • Adhere to the admission standards of an American university, which include the submission of a completed secondary school transcript and Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) score. (For students coming from countries that issue secondary school leaving certificates, we normally require these as well.) To apply for admission, please send us your most recent academic transcript. If admitted, we'll ask you to forward us your final academic transcript after you finish secondary school.

  • Adhere to the admission requirements of the British educational system: submission of either three "A"-level exam results or an Advanced International Certificate of Education (AICE). Students taking non-UK university-sponsored "A"-level exams should also submit an SAT score.

If you have not yet taken your "A"-level or AICE exams, but plan to do so before you begin studying with us, please forward us your GSCE, IGSCE, or GCE "O"-level exam results. If admitted, we will ask you to forward us your final "A"-level or AICE exam results when they become available.

  • Complete the International Baccalaureate (IB) and submit academic transcripts and final IB grades. If you have not completed all of your IB exams, please send us your latest transcript and scores from any IB exams you've taken. If admitted, we'll ask you to forward us your final IB results as they become available.

  • In some cases, we allow you to follow the university admission requirements of your secondary school's sponsoring country. We apply this norm primarily to non-English-speaking countries with solid secondary school programs. In most cases, students are required to take a national or regional university entrance exam. (For example, we allow students coming from Spanish secondary schools to substitute Spain's national entrance exam for the SAT exam.) We do not allow this substitution, however, for students coming from secondary school programs where the language of instruction is English. If you think this option might apply to you, please contact our Office of Admissions for more details.
