Art history is a program of study in the humanities that teaches the essential skills of critical analysis, research, and communication through examination of the social context in which art was historically – and continues to be – created. At SLU Madrid, the Art History faculty offers a broad chronological and geographical field of study ranging from Ancient Greece to modern and contemporary art in Europe and the Americas. Taking advantage of our position, the program also offers the opportunity to apply for an internship at a museum or gallery in Madrid.
Requirements:
A total of 18 hours of Art History courses are required for this minor. Students can earn a minor in Art History by completing three hours in one of the following introductory courses:
In addition to one of the introductory courses listed above, students must complete fifteen additional hours of Art History electives (at least 9 hours of which must be at the 300/400 level).
