Assistantships & Financial Aid

Saint Louis University – Madrid Campus tuition fees are competitive, some 33 to 50 percent lower than you will find at comparable universities in North America. As we work to assure that the cost of obtaining a SLU education is affordable to students from diverse socio-economic backgrounds, we offer a variety of financial aid opportunities to deserving students.

Assistantships

Assistantships provide experience in areas of professional responsibility related to a student's field of study.

For the first year of studies – covering the fall and spring terms – MA English students may apply for one of the Loyola Assistantship, with a maximum value of  2,500 €, applicable at the rate of 250€ per enrolled 3-credit course at Saint Louis University – Madrid Campus. In accepting an assistantship, the MA English student agrees to provide 75 hours per semester (approximately 5 hours per week) of service to the Saint Louis University – Madrid Campus Languages and Literature Division for the duration of the assistantship. Assistantship applications should be submitted by March 1st for Fall, and by September 1st for Spring.

MA English students entering into the second year of studies are eligible to reapply for one of the Loyola Assistantships or may apply for a teaching assistantship. Teaching assistants will be credited with 100% of tuition for up to 6 credit hours of graduate coursework and will receive a stipend.  Those interested in a teaching assistantship should contact Dr. Anne McCabe of the Languages and Literature Division during the Spring semester of their first year of graduate studies.

MA English students may also apply for an Administrative Support Scholarship position.

Furthermore, MA English students will be given a discount for up to 6 credit hours of summer study on the St. Louis Campus so that the higher tuition rate of the St. Louis Campus is reduced to the tuition rate of the Madrid Campus.

English Language Assistantships
