Requirements for the Women's Studies Certificate

Women's Studies certificates are required to take a total of 18 hours. All courses must be listed or cross-listed with Women's Studies. Cross-listed courses do not have to be taken under the Women's Studies number to count, and courses can double and triple count for two majors, for minors, and for core requirements.

Required courses (6 total hours):

• WSTD 197 - Introduction to Women's Studies (3 hrs)
     AND ONE (3 hrs) of the following:
  
• WSTD 393/385 - Feminism in Action (3 hrs), or
  
• WSTD 481 or 390 - Feminist Theory (3 hrs), or
  
• WSTD 401-Cultural Analyses of Gender:Methods & Strategies of Interpretation (3hrs), or
  
• WSTD 485 - Women's Studies Capstone (3 hrs)

Elective courses (total of 12 hours at the 200-level or above):
