"The seven months I spent at Christie's Madrid office was a once in a lifetime experience. My passion for art history had propelled me into an internship with one of the most prestigious auction houses in the world. Working in the art department there, I was given many great responsibilities such as contacting clients, working with specialists in various departments of the company, and helping assist the head of the Madrid office. The job was challenging at times because I was responsible for my own deadlines and projects. I learned time management, improved my knowledge of Spanish art history, and most importantly, I improved my Spanish more than I ever thought possible! However stressful the internship got, there were so many opportunities that made it worthwhile, such as attending exhibit openings at the Museo del Prado and helping hand-carry a painting by Sorolla to a shop to get a new frame. Working at Christie's, I learned what it means to be a part of a team, and that's something that I will never forget. The internship helped prepare me for my professional career and I will always value the experience and everything it taught me. Rachael Switkes Spring 2010 ". [Rachael Switkes - Spring 2010]
