Art History and Studio Art

Madrid: base camp for the study of European Art

The department’s extra-curricular activities encourage students to discover Madrid’s art scene and keep up-to-date with exhibitions, seminars and art events in the city. As a student in Madrid, you will enjoy a program of guest lectures, in situ talks by professionals, and the excitement of the contemporary art world with ARCO –Madrid’s annual International Contemporary Art Fair.

Home to the most important art collections in Europe, Madrid’s museums and palaces also provide an unparalleled resource for the study of Spanish and Western art. Many of our courses are complemented by class visits to these collections and study trips to nearby cities like Toledo and Segovia.

  • Come and experience Spain through one of our courses: ‘The Art and History of Madrid’, ‘The Golden Age of Spanish Art’, or ‘Spanish Masters from El Greco to Dalí’.
  • Explore the collections of Madrid's museums, and their excellent temporary exhibitions.
  • Enhance your creative skills with our new class on sculpture in the Art Department.
  • Take classes in both English and Spanish and learn about Spanish art with professors specialized in this field.
  • Get involved with the Art Club and share your interest in the arts with other students.
