Anthropology, in the broadest sense, is the "study of humans" (anthropos = humans; ology = study of). It is a representative discipline covering a wide variety of topics and research. The anthropological endeavor involves both sociocultural and biological aspects of humankind, and is part of the social science community of disciplines. This means that its practitioners examine human cultural and biological variation and complexity through a combination of the scientific and humanistic methods. One characteristic that sets anthropology apart from other fields of study is its holistic approach: it is comprehensive, inclusive, and integrates information from many different areas of study through ethnographic, biological, cross-cultural, and sociological inquiries.
The Madrid Campus offers opportunities for both visiting and degree-seeking students to pursue their interests in Sociology and Anthropology, granting them insights into the culture and society, from contemporary Spain to the Classical World.
