Without knowing the Greek or Roman myths it is almost impossible to understand a great number of masterpieces of Art. A huge percentage of English words have Latin roots. Most medical and scientific terms have a Greek origin and are used in their Latin transcription.

Learning Latin is essential for a deeper comprehension of all Romance languages, and even contributes to a better understanding of English. Beyond the relevance for a humanistic education, there is another reason why most important educational institutions offer Classical studies: studying Classical languages develops a special ability of organizing all the different parts of a sentence; and this helps to structure the mind.
