What is Aerospace Engineering?

Adrià Serra - SPAIN Aerospace Engineering |
Aerospace engineers apply their knowledge to such diverse fields as mass transportation, bioengineering, medical systems, and environmental engineering. Aerospace has taken on roles in service to mankind and will be vital in future explorations of the solar system and the universe beyond. Future projects include super-efficient subsonic jet liners, passenger transports, trans-atmospheric aircraft capable of cruising at the top of the atmosphere and flying into orbit, and the space station. Our Aerospace Engineering education prepares you to be a part of this future.
The Major
The Aerospace Engineering program is offered jointly on Madrid campus and the Department of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering of Parks College. The program provides a solid foundation of coursework in the engineering sciences, including graphics, mechanics of solids, fluid and thermal sciences, vibrations and controls, and electronics. The student will then be able to specialize in such areas as aerodynamics, structural design and analysis, propulsion, and flight mechanics. Technical electives such as orbital mechanics, helicopter theory and performance, hypersonics, or flight simulation will provide opportunities for greater depth of study. Modern and well-equipped laboratories emphasize experimental methods and measurement techniques.
The Aerospace Engineering curriculum is professionally accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and technology (EAC of ABET).
Program Educational Objectives
The Aerospace Engineering program has been developed with the following objectives:
1. To prepare you for employment as entry-level engineers and/or to pursue graduate degrees.
2. To prepare you with the current knowledge and skills necessary to become practicing aerospace engineers and to pursue further professional development.
3. To provide an education that will allow you to understand your career within the broader societal and ethical context.
4. To develop strong written and oral communication skills in English and Spanish.
