Prerequisite: SPAN-415 or advanced fluency
Curriculum: Fulfills Spanish Major or Minor; Fulfills Upper Division Literature Requirement for A&S and Business; IAS Certificate Elective
Description: El paseante en la ciudad. New York, Madrid, Barcelona, Venice: a study of the evolution of the city as a poetic theme in different Spanish generations. From the antagonistic perspective of the Modern poets and the Marxist critics to the postmodern perspectives that close the gap between object and subject. Focus on works by Federico García Lorca, Max Aub, Carlos Barral, Ángel González, Jaime Gil de Biedma, Guillermo Carnero, Luis García Montero and more recent writers and trends.
