SPAN-423 Spanish Phonetics and Phonology

Prerequisite: SPAN-410 and SPAN-415 or equivalent (or concurrent registration)
Curriculum: Elective for Spanish majors
Description: La posición de la lengua. Theoretical and practical approach to Spanish phonetics from the double perspective of how sound units are represented in the speaker’s mind and how they are produced in syllables, words and phrases. Practice in oral comprehension and sound discrimination, with transcription exercises and emphasis on correct pronunciation skills.
