ESL-080-M01 Grammar

Emphasis on the form of main and subordinate clauses, including noun clauses and adjective clauses, as well as on the effective use of tense, aspect and voice, article use, irregular verb forms, and phrasal verbs.

ESL-080-M02 Written Language Skills

Focus on overall text structure, cohesion and coherence through reading and writing activities.

ESL-080-M03 The Writing System of English

Concentrated development of spelling and word and letter formation in English through dictation, study of word families, and read-aloud activities.

ESL-080-M04 Cultural Awareness/Critical Thinking

Analysis of Western perspectives through popular culture, to achieve an understanding of the context of important issues, arguments, and debates, and to formulate critical responses.

ESL-080-M05 Orientation to Academic Study

Development of study skills and strategies: time management, concentration, memorization, language learning, test-preparation, problem-solving, and use of available university study resources.

ESL-080-M06 Computer & Research Skills

Focus on the use of computer software for language learning, word processing, and research, as well as on using the library for research and for quality study time.
