The Program
The Intensive English and Academic Orientation Program is designed to enable students to achieve the level of English, study skills, and cultural background needed to succeed in an American university environment. The program consists of interactive classes and tutorials. Students who successfully complete the program will:

master specific areas of grammar that present challenges in written English.
- achieve effective writing skills for an academic environment.
- become aware of a variety of text types, structures and contexts for both comprehension and creation.
- acquire skills necessary for the critical analysis of texts.
- recognize cultural references in different media, including academic texts.
- develop effective study habits.
- gain practice in using available library and technology resources for study and research.
The full-time English as a Second Language (ESL) program meets 27 hours per week, for 15 weeks, according to the following schedule:

13:00-13:50 Grammar (ESL-080-M01)
Monday-Thursday
15:00-15:50 Written Language Skills (ESL-080-M02)
16:00-16:50 Cultural Awareness/Critical Thinking (ESL-080-M04)
17:00-17:50 Computer & Research Skills (ESL-080-M06) |
