ECON-456 Economic Development

Prerequisite: ECON-312 and ECON-314
Curriculum: Fulfills International Business/Economics concentration requirement.
Description: Why isn't the whole world developed? "Is there some action governments can take that would lead poorer economies to grow like wealthier ones? If so, what, exactly? If not, what is it about the nature of these poorer ones that makes it so? The consequences for human welfare involved in questions like these are simply staggering: once one starts to think about them, it is hard to think about anything else" (Adopted from Lucas, Robert E., Jr. [1988], "On the Mechanics of Economic Development" Journal of Monetary Economics).
Current Text: Economic Development (Ray)
