CMM-347 Political Communication

Prerequisite: CMM-200 and CMM-280, or instructor's permission
Curriculum: Fulfills Communication principles requirement; fulfills IR requirement; honors credit available for eligible students
Description: How public opinion is shaped and formed. Topics to be considered include the nature of conviction, the art of persuasion, the process of deliberation, mechanisms of deceptions, misinformation, framing, agenda setting and the spectre of "brain-washing." Readings drawn from the tradition of political thought as well as contemporary social science.
