| SPAN-418 Spanish Culture and Civilization (MANDATORY TRIP) The trip itinerary visits the most popular route of the St. James Way in Spain (Camino de Santiago). This route is the called the French Way or "In-land" Way. It enters Spain from France though the Pyrenees in Navarra. In the Medieval times, Navarra was a kingdom of its own for a long period of time and the first kingdom that the Northern European pilgrims encountered in the Iberian Peninsula. This is why many small towns and villages contain great examples of European Medieval art, both Romanesque and Gothic styles that will be visited during this trip. Price: 225-350 € |

| Open to All Students, Faculty and Staff of All Faiths Travel to the Basque countryside of northern Spain and visit the birthplace of Saint Ignatius of Loyola, founder of the Society of Jesus. An opportunity to deepen one's understanding of St. Ignatius of Loyola and the Spiritual Exercises in the place where Saint Ignatius was born and lived. | EAS-105 Introduction to Oceanography (MANDATORY TRIP) A visit to Spain's southeastern coast to study the main environmental issues the Mediterranean Sea is facing. The field trip includes visit to oceanography institutes, a desalination site, natural reserves and natural parks. The excursion includes a boat ride to Tabarca Island, which provides the opportunity - weather permitting - to snorkel in its crystal blue waters and identify the different organisms studied in the course. The trip also includes kayaking and sailing along the most developed Mediterranean coastlines, to identify coastal issues and successful restoration projects.
