To be admitted to the Spanish major, a student is required to:
1. Have at least a 2.00 cumulative average;
2. Have received a C or better in any prerequisite for upper division courses in the Spanish major;
3. Fill out an application to the Spanish major in the Office of the Registrar. The application and the student's record are then submitted to the Department of Modern Languages and, upon acceptance, a departmental advisor is assigned.
Requirements for the Spanish Major:
SPAN-310 and SPAN-410 (Written Communication)
SPAN-315 and SPAN-415 (Oral Communication)
18 hours of literature or advanced study of the language
Total hours of Spanish coursework: 33 hours (minimum) OR 30 hours + SPAN-488
All upper division courses, courses above the 309-level, require language competency equivalent to SPAN-110, SPAN-115, and SPAN-210 (9 credit hours). All upper division literature courses have as prerequisites SPAN-310, SPAN-315, SPAN-410, and SPAN-415.
