The Madrid Campus of Saint Louis University offers a unique setting for students to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish. The student can study all four years of the degree program in Madrid, in an atmosphere of total immersion in the language, culture, and literature.
The faculty of the Spanish Department is comprised wholly of native Spaniards who have terminal degrees from leading Spanish and American universities. Classes are taught in Spanish from the first day. In many classes, academic excursions throughout Spain are incorporated into the curriculum. Students may elect, as well, to take core requirementssuch as psychology, history, or theologyin Spanish. Students can experience Spanish life and culture, but also enjoy the advantage of an American university education and degree.
Activities planned by the Department of Spanish and the Cultural Affairs Office allow the student to be integrated into Spanish society: guest authors present their works, critics and literary experts comment on current social movements, and journalists and representatives of government hold panel discussions to question the socio-political trends in Spain.
