What is a Billiken?

History says that a Billiken is a good luck charm, but today a Billiken is so much more. A Billiken leads, learns and serves. Most importantly, a Billiken knows how to fit in with the crowd but still stand out in his or her own special way.

The Billiken is Saint Louis University’s distinctive mascot and has been for 100 years. The SLU mascot is a fitting representation of the essence of the University and the one-of-a-kind educational experience students receive during their time on campus.

SLU students evolve into and become SLU Billikens, embracing the entire experience offered to them, by being brilliant, involved, adventurous, extraordinary and global citizens.
